Two more words of advice:
1) compress the file(s) using a tool like WinRAR (similar to WinZIP but WinRAR has a better compression ratio)
2) set up winrar to create spanned compressed files. That way, you don't have to start all over again if the phone line goes down when you've copied let's say, 99%.
