There are pro's and con's with both VFP and .Net.
Looking at VFP I can say that the new development from eTecnologia in the NetCompiler for VFP can bring a good future for those who are interested in working with Data.
The 64-bit compiler is good enough for the future. As well as the upcoming development of the generic database, and other tools they have in mind.
If you like pain and a steep learnig curve, go with the other "tools" M$ provides.
For me, I do not work in VFP (at least for my customers), I work with "a special Framework, developed with speedy and easy Data access, ultimate string handling and fantastic speed development in mind". And no they (the customers) will never see that I work with VFP since I pack it all with Molebox (Ultra). All the ActiveX controls I use, all runtime files and everything that comes with the app goes in there (except of course the data and other files taht need to be written to).
Simply create a folder, drop the (MoleBoxed) exe in there, adjust the ini file and run the software. I don't need no install software at all, bye bye Inno or InstallShield, I love my customers, they love me (and I don't care. . . :-) )
