I agree with Andy. I have developed some components in VB.NET for the business system that I am working on (Windows Mobile apps predominantly) and love the actual language and framework as an OOP idiom.
The data handling is still light years behind VFP however and that is why VFP is still relevant, more than relevant - crucial, as a development tool.
We have been blessed for the past 2 decades to have been able to use the DML features of VFP.
VFP still has a long life ahead of it.
