There would be no good time for this. But once Sedna started hitting completion (next release is beta 1), planning began for the next release (as I've been saying it would). At that time the decision got made and we pushed to be open about it as soon as possible.
Those folks at the Visual FoxPro User Group in Atlanta that I spoke at in February (or was it January?) will recall that I said that we'd start looking at pricing, release, etc., in March. That's what happened.
And Joel - not to rant on you, but I'm seriously considering taking a break from all things Visual FoxPro. My blood pressure is up this past week. One person called me 6 times in 30 minutes at work, leaving messages that I'm a coward for not responding immediately. People have been pretty nasty on my blog comments. I signed up for this because I thought it was a better way to do it - but I'm not sure I'm able to keep things going.
