ActiveVFP 6.0 and 5.52 released!
Thread ID: 365882 claude fox ActiveVFP 6.0 and 5.52 released! ActiveVFP(AVFP) 6.0 and 5.52 have been released on CodePlex at http://activevfp.codeplex.com AVFP 6 features new community development from Victor Espina with RESTful API for FoxPro web services with extensionless URLs and, from Christian Ehlscheid and his CreateThreadObject, new multi-threaded background processing(6.0/5.52). jQuery and jQuery Mobile examples are also included(6.0/5.52) as well as updates for VFP reports to PDF. AVFP 6 includes a new MVC (Model-View-Controller) framework that lets the developer create a VFP Controller class in a simple prg and return .avfp HTML views, JSON, or other output, for the best of modern web

Array-Effect Gotcha
Thread ID: 407342 Paul Gibson Array-Effect Gotcha So I was playing around with Craig Boyd's JSON class and I found some really strange JSON coming back that revealed an interesting "variable gotcha". Important: I'm not going to say there is a bug in Craig's class (although I will have to change some code in it to cater for this) or a bug in VFP, it is standard behaviour I believe and I do understand what is happening but it's worth highlighting to anyone who's interested. So when Craig's class converts an object to JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) it goes through the PEMs and "stringifies" each one, it does this in a loop using local variables and traverses the array of PEMs going through

Avro/binary serialization
Thread ID: 350057 Daniel Lauer Avro/binary serialization I'm wondering if anyone has any experience serializing data as avro/binary. There are a few good JSON classes out there, but I'm finding nothing for avro/binary. If anyone has any experience with this...HELP! I know there is some C# stuff out there, but I'm a COM Interop noob, and I don't really know where to start. Best, Dan

Bug in JSON parser
Thread ID: 408220 Paul Gibson Bug in JSON parser I've used Craig Boyd's JSON parser for a few minor things here and there but I've now started to use it a bit more and sadly I've found a bug in it. I posted a message on here a few weeks ago regarding a gotcha that got Craig's code in regard to re-used variables that could be arrays at any point in the process (407342) but now I've found something else which I'm afraid I'll definitely have to categorise as a bug in the code. When the JSON is being parsed there is a function (GetPositionOfMatchingBrace) that attempts to match braces, that is when the parser hits a { it tries to find the correct corresponding }, when it hits a [ it tries

Chicago FUDG meets Tues. 8 Jan 2013
Thread ID: 366017 Randy Bosma Chicago FUDG meets Tues. 8 Jan 2013 Our first meeting of 2013 will focus on SQL Server Integration Services. We talked at the last meeting about broadening our focus to include topics on industrial strength data storage systems like SQL server, cutting edge programming like mobile apps, and more generic tools like source control and xml and json handling. So please invite co-workers and others who may not be familiar with our long time focus of VFP to our Jan. 8 meeting. We will look deeply at the Extract - Transform - Load (ETL) tool which is making complex data integration a lot more uniform and simple. There is a leaning curve -- so check us out at 5:30 pm on the 2nd

He says "The concept is simple - automating Fox on the desktop to generate HTML fragments and JSON or XML data, and FTPing them up to your web server nightly. Static, unchanged... the pages on the site, display the simple structure of JSON data, and the commands used to consume JSON data in a common html page. The samples will be in Spry Ajax, but jQuery is VERY similar. Same time: 5:30 Tuesday August

Expand base64 encoded string
Thread ID: 405191 Gerrit Broekhuis Expand base64 encoded string Hi, For a specific JSON call I have to add test to a base64 encoded string. I get the following error: "String is too long to fit". This is the main code for the string handling: LOCAL lcString, lcBase64String, lcNewString lcString = FILETOSTR("C:\Demo\Sample.pdf") && any available PDF will do; mine is about 50Kb lcBase64String = STRCONV(lcString,13) && converts single-byte characters to encoded base64 binary lcNewString = '["' + lcBase64String + '"],' && [" in front and "], after base64 string As you see I only have to add a few characters to the base64 string. Any suggestions how to add these characters

Fast JSON parser
Thread ID: 406356 Mike James Fast JSON parser I have been using Craig Boyd's (Sweetpotato) JSON parser in a development project, but I have two issues: - some of the JSON text from the source API causes errors in this parser - the performance could be better (although I have optimised it by limiting the amount of JSON text - larger text files are exponentially slower). I am looking for something better, and searching for fast JSON parsers usually turns up something in javascript. So my question is, what is the best way to: - control a javascript program from VFP - pass text files out to javascript and get JSON objects back? I have tried various techniques

Free MongoDb course from 10gen
Thread ID: 367825 Cetin Basoz Free MongoDb course from 10gen Hi, 10gen has started free online courses as of yesterday (Jan 21st,2013) and registration is open. There are 3 courses that you can register to IF YOU ARE INTERESTED: -MongoDb for Java developers -MongoDb for developers -MongoDb for DBAs That is a great opportunity IMHO. In case you want to take the course(s) here is the address: https://education.10gen.com Here is a short explanation of MongoDb: It is a NoSQL database that is in use by many big names. It is schemaless (saying dynamic schema is more appropriate) Key-Value store, storing the data as BSON objects (Binary JSON - JavaScript Object Notation). It is designed to work

Hitting a web service
Thread ID: 409344 Russell Hill Hitting a web service Hi all, Previously I have used some utilities from West Wind called wwhttp and wwutils to interact with web services/APIs. I am now trying to interact with a web service that uses JSON instead of XML and I suspect that my calls are failing due to the utilities I am using rather than the JSON itself. I would appreciate some suggestions from other people as to what utility/code they use for hitting web services. Basically I just need to send a JSON request string which, if I can get it to work, will return a JSON response string. Thanks in advance. Russell.

How to send JSON with HTTP from VFP
Thread ID: 403146 Gerrit Broekhuis How to send JSON with HTTP from VFP Hi, I'm testing a virtual PBX (in the cloud) with the possibility to use an API to place a call from an application. This is the URL we should use: http://phbx.i2pack.ivocs.com/coms/call.json I now have to send a JSON document as part of a HTTP message, with Content-Type 'application/json'. The JSON document should read as follows: { "from": "0517374839", "to": "0355231569" } How should I implement this in my VFP application? What should the HTTP message be like and how should I add the JSON document in it? Regards, Gerrit

JSON to cursor
Thread ID: 344769 alwy ali JSON to cursor Hello every one I have been trying to use sweetpotato JSON class to convert json data to vfp cusror, but no success. I actually dont know how to achieve that. The explanation on the website and jsontests file did not help. Here is the case. I get request [ajax request] from the user(browser), when i receive it [using foxpro web server-FWS] i pass it to json. m.custorder = FILEtostr('cusord.json') SET procedure TO "proc\JSON.prg" additive m.myWebJson = CREATEOBJECT("JSON") m.respoCursor = m.myWebJson.Parse(@m.custorder) ? m.respoCursor all i get at the end is a return of numeric value indicating number of records

companies with minimum security risk to implement web application with [FWS] securely[seemingly], this will also provide an amateur alternative to SSL. It is possible and very easy to use JSON in place of text[string], infact according to jquery Documentation they say JSON is the preffered way and it's faster, but i think returning a string with letters 'NO' is fastest and cheapest. To the best of my knowledge using FWS WITH Jquery/ajax is exatly like using BL

New ActiveVFP 4.1 released!
Thread ID: 234016 claude fox New ActiveVFP 4.1 released! This is the best version to date of AVFP. Even though it's only a .1 increment, it really ties up a bunch of loose ends in the project: http://activevfp.codeplex.com Release Notes AVFP Version 4.0: 1.) Vista OS integration 2.) better .NET Framework support 3.) WebThreads (real vfp web threads) for long-running web background tasks 4.) never need to stop/start IIS 5.) just code and compile main.prg (or code in html templates) 6.) easier installation for ASP.NET 7.) AJAX/jQuery -- new in 4.1 8.) Integration of WebAppBuilder in setup - allows drop-down of available web servers and port # 9.) Fix/enhancements to webthreads Async class 10.) New JSON

Preserve case of field name
Thread ID: 364561 claude fox Preserve case of field name Is there any way to preserve the field "firstName" in a SQL statement so that there is somewhere I can refer to the "real" mixed case name?? It always remains all small case: firstName always becomes firstname when I stringify it to JSON but I'm pretty sure Foxpro is disregarding case as soon as I generate the SQL... For example, select e.emp_id as id, e.first_Name as firstName, e.last_Name as lastName, e.title..., e.picture ; order by 3 I want to preserve (or store, etc) the mixed case names firstName, lastName, reportCount so that they get fed to my JSON. I am trying to preserve the case of field names so that it's easy to plugin foxpro
