Hello fellas, > In client/server file maintenance. using free tables...i don't use data environment And what is your back-end server SQL Server? Oracle, VFP? MySQL? Do you guys think that it is better to use the data environment.. I'ld say use the DataEnvironment. Saves you a lot of coding. (and thus a lot of time). Also I'ld say, upgrade to VFP9 ASAP. VFP6 is quite outdated! Even the support is gone. See thread 65997. Boudewijn Lutge®ink My Blog is here I consider Visual FoxPro as a white light, white light is separated in different colors by sending it through prisms, Those prisms might be companies

RE: Data Fetching from Barcode Scanner
Thread ID: 277226 Junaid Lakhani RE: Data Fetching from Barcode Scanner Thank You Anil, I completely understood what you said. So I don't need to use API or anything to get it done through VFP9 ? Hi everyone, > I have an inventory application which is developed by me as well. Now I need to add a feature in that application which can read the data from Barcode Scanner and insert into my database so it can be display into a Grid. User should not need to input data (Serial Number, Item Code, Item Name, Item Price and Item Quantity) manually > If somebody can send me some program or way to do this in an easy format, I will be Thankful. > Junaid barcode reader is nothing but just a auto keyboard. Means when user scan barcode barcode reader type the barcode value to the textbox/notepad where is your cursor. so u just need to find that code value in your item table and show the information. If barcode is not generated by your application then you need to record each barcode in your application with specific items. > > Anil > www.nxgensoftwares.com Accounting, Inventory, Hotel Management, Restaurant Kot Billing, MLM, Excise Accounting and much

RE: data file must be exclusive
Thread ID: 306860 Yuri Rubinov RE: data file must be exclusive Hello to all Experts, I'm new in vfp9. i use already fpd 2.6, i make a new form, when i run it, error "File must be open exclusively" how can i solve this error message, i already use this command in Form Load, 'set exclusive on' 'open databases testdata excl' Be Possitive If you go to VFP help, then you can discover that erro message "File must be open exclusively" indicates that "You have attempted to perform an operation that requires exclusive use of the table." Thus, to answer your question one needs to know what is that "operation" in your code. Do you have any on error routine in your code? Do you have in your code VFP commands

It's better to assume that every application is eventually going to be multi-user and program accordingly. Tamar

RE: data grouping
(amount) FROM Trial GROUP BY 1 If you still haven't upgraded to VFP9, use two nested IIF(). SELECT IIF(INLIST(type,'INT001','INT008'),1,IIF(INLIST(type,'INT002','INT010'),2,3)),; SUM(amount) FROM Trial GROUP BY 1

RE: data grouping problem & report build
APPEND FROM TABLE_2 BROW
Then you can base your report on table_1, group the report upon "TERM" and erase the table after use With VFP9 you could SELECT NAME, SCORE, TERM FROM MYTAB ORDER BY TERM, NAME INTO CURSOR

RE: data grouping with iif -error
; FROM PENS
And if possible ship to VFP9 your syntax will be easier, and SQL process time will be shorter : SELECT ; PADR( ICASE(; INLIST(ZINT_NO,'INT008','INT008','INT010'),'CAR MOTOR REPAIR LOAN', ; INLIST

If the table is part of a DBC, you could use the RI builder for this, but for free tables you must code this manually. I assume you know which are the child tables that could possbily have the key. You need to open each of those tables and look for the key. RE: DATA SAVING PROBLEM
Thread ID: 102854 TEKNIK ENGINEERS RE: DATA SAVING PROBLEM I have Purchased VFP9 and i am in process of updating to it. What are the changes required while upgrading. I am a little confused about the concept of data buffering. What exactly are the changes required than the free tables(same as in dos) I am not using table buffering or tableupdate(). My tables are free tables as in case of DOS FOXPRO 2.6(I HAD A SOFTWARE IN DOS WHICH I CONVERTED TO WINDOWS) > > I am using Visual Foxpro 6.0 in the application i use free tables. all the tables are opened at the start and closed when the application closes. If the application is closed abnormally the data is not saved since the last login session
