Hi Anil,

I agree with Claude's point that there's a fine line between web hosting and cloud computing.

The cloud computing vendors tend to doublespeak because they are "grinding an axe" -- they have ulterior motive to sell more boxes and services.

In the telecom industry, one of the biggest trends is the move toward SaaS solutions.   But who's to say how multi-tenant these solutions are behind the curtain?   Some say cloud is going to bring Mainframes and mini-computers back into the picture. Two of my clients are succeeding with SaaS solutions using VAX computers.   Telecom is so wedded to Unix/Oracle that nobody will buy solutions like that for the data center.   But if it's in the cloud, it's hear no evil, speak no evil.

In many cases, creative web hosting may prove cost effective than "pure" cloud.   I attended a conference session last week given by a company named Parallels. More than likely, the technology behind famous web hosters like GoDaddy is Parallels.   They support 5,000 hosting companies, so you can bet they've got some plans on how to exploit the cloud or the fake cloud.

And you almost never see articles about "hybrid desktop and cloud".   To me, solutions in that area are promising because you want the speed of the desktop married with the connectivity of the cloud.

And that's where VFP fits in.   Claude (ActiveVFP) and others are working on that connection to the cloud as you well know.

So it's a highly dynamic area and the terminology is murky -- and yes, cloudy!
