You can use MAPI to send emails using Thunderbird. Other than that, I don't know how to get access to the Thunderbird folders. There are software that convert thunderbird folders to eml files. You can check them out. I would advice you to go for outlook. Thunderbird is good as a email client, but if you want to integrate with your software, Outlook is better.
