Have a look at http://www.colorpilot.com/extract-pdf-text.html There is a downloadable complete project template and source but it's for C++ not C#, ... maybe it'll give you some idea at least about project structure / module-ing on format conversion / file stream handling other than through SQL (It's PDF2TEXT there, of course you need others probably too)... not sure but well, consider it just info otherwise
