Many/most PoS receipt printers are Epson-compatible and use/recognize Epson escape codes ( = CHR(27)+CHR(...)+...+... ) to do various tasks. You simply have to google for the right codes to use, there are slight differences for each model and type (eg. thermal/not) but there are tons of references/pdf/etc on the net. Keywords: "Epson escape codes PoS receipt printer" --

Normally you have to do it in two stages:
- determine type of cut (full or partial)
- shoot the correct codes for the type/model of printer, most preceded with chr(27) (hence the term "escape" codes)

The use of "???" (triple ?) is more less equal to raw mode printing ( bypassing installed printer driver/s). Whether or not it is appropriate to use in your case would depend on other factors unclear from your post
