There are two other ways to handle this.
1. In a beta test environment, I start by going to my Tools->Options->File Locations and I set up a "Default Directory" The default direcory will contain a "data" directory where I store my database plus other directories for forms, prgs, etc. While beta testing, I simply copy the EXE and Data directory up to the server to a share called "Beta." The only things that exist in that share are the EXE and the Data directory (filled with data.) When the EXE runs, it looks in it's current directory for a data directory, finds it and finds the data.

2. In a production environment, I set up the data directory in the setup procedure. Works like a charm.
