As Borislav pointed out, "Where is the Day?" A date has a year, a month and a day. If it hasn't got a day, it cannot be a date. My recommendation would be to have two integer fields, one for the year and one for the month. You would have to validate the year and month that a user enters. You might want to consider using a spinner control for the year and a dropdown for the month. Using these two controls, you could limit the user's data entry choices to valid options only.
