If you want to append data to an alias with XMLTOCURSOR from a file then you must use...

XMLTOCURSOR("myxml.xml", "table1", 8192+512)

VFP8 has a cool XMLAdapter class that can store multiple tables in one XML file. I think this is also a class that does this in VFP7. Search for XML & you should find quite a bit.
