Thanks. I was a little careless when I wrote the code (those were one of the test codes in my backyard and you know when it is test code:). Sorry for the confusion. I would normally have utf8 names for alias and Unicode for XMLName.

I too use respect nesting where I can. In Paul's case it didn't help me particularly for 2 reasons:
1) Something wrong with the schema or it is VFP that cannot infer right. I don't know.
2) It doesn't automatically put any ID into child table so you don't have any foreign key in generated cursors (if you didn't put explicitly - an XML data wouldn't need it but we do:)
