I am indeed changing the record source, so that's the problem. Since I posted the question, I've taken a slightly different tack on my form, one in which I will not be changing the record source. Thank you for your help on this problem.

> > I have a grid with 4 column and these column are set up with the standard controls, header and textbox. I have some code in the valid method of the textbox in column 3. When I run the form, I can't get this code to run when I leave column 3 by hitting the enter or tab keys. Now I am changing the controlsource of the columns periodically with a command button. But I wouldn't think that the controlsource property would effect the valid event of the textbox. What am I overlooking here?
> Do you change the RecordSource of the grid at any point? If so, that's the problem because the grid is "rebuilt" from defaults when you set the RecordSource. There are a couple of solutions to this problem. Let me know if this is your situation and I'll offer some solutions.
