Further to previous discussion about protecting VFP apps: here is an exceedingly simple VFP app protected using the Chinese protection system I raised earlier.

http://www.po-dunk.com/downloads/hackme.zip

It should run on a machine with VFP9 installed.

If you run it and enter the correct password in the textbox, a special message will be displayed.

The app is about as simple as they come, meaning this should be easier to break apart than the more complex apps most of us work with.

Can somebody please pick it apart and tell me the password? To make it easier to break I've put everything including the password check in the form rather than calling it from a proc.

Note: this may not run on Vista without messing around but works fine on XP. Also it may cause Norton Sonar to rebel if you have that installed (Refox causes the same- something to do with compressed apps)

Reason for request: protection is of interest to many of us at some point. It's not possible to absolutely protect an app if a good hacker has it on his hard drive but VFP has been disturbingly easy to decompile, even for those of us taking active protection efforts. This Chinese system may be the best yet. If I am correct it should prove far more difficult to get the password even using the hook or attaching low-level debuggers to the form. If I'm wrong it will be good to know!
