Hi,
You can check my past theads on this using keyword "Oracle". I have not been able to update a
Oracle table using ODBC (both Oracle and Microsoft ODBC drivers) from within a VFP 6.0, 7.0, and VFP version
8.0. I can connect and read data, but every effort to change the backend failed.
This only happens with Oracle, not SQL-Server. If I use the same ODBC connection within MS Access,
Visual Basic, Delphi, etc...etc... it works. I have tried the SQLSTRINGCONNECT() approach as well,
to no success. Looks like the changes went through OK, no error messages. Just close the table and
re-open and the changes are not committed to the backend. SQL pass through fails as well, but only
from within VFP. You can use ADO to connect as well to connect to Oracle. Regardless of what
I tried, no updating, no errors and forced to use a different development language for Oracle.
If you get this to work please post as I have numerous threads to several forums and this is a known
problem with VFP. Experts at UniversalThread.com supported this as a known issue.
