Without looking at the code, just general considerations:
Have you had your library loaded, colleague?
That is:

IF ATC("MyClassLib", SET("CLASSLIB")) == 0 && Class library isn't loaded yet
   SET CLASSLIB TO "C:\MyProgs\MyLibs\MyClassLib.VCX" ADDIT
ENDIF

** or something like that, before issuing

loMyControl = CREATEOBJECT("MyClass") && ?

HTH.

On the footnote: I believe you do not need to call Init explicitly when you issue CREATEOBJECT(), the Init event is executed automatically (if there's some code in it).
