there is a faster way to do it...

however, it is not encryption/decryption. you could actually hide a field in a dbf file.

say you have a table named as employee.dbf and you have fields, empno and empname.
you could actually hide that. using this command in foxpro such as:

use employee
brow

this will show nothing... because the fields are hidden.

note: this is programmatic, and you need to change the property of a field (that is in bytes).
and this is 100% File Handling I/O routine...
