VERY-Unlike your uncle David, I can assure you that applications don't get old. Once it works overall it will always work.
- note the word "overall" - that is why an overall "beta testing" period should be insisted and hopefully paid for too
- note the database can get filled fast - the closer it's reaching its limit then the slower / unresponsive it could become
- note overtime some "problems" that are not well taken-care-of can get "accumulated / branched-out" touching other areas and might soon reach the application's tolerance limit
- also note that OS software upgrades or even just updates can adversely affect performance of your application. I guess this can only be dealt with on case by case basis
