> You might check to see if you've got a config.fpw with the setting SCREEN = OFF in this particular project folder that's causing your problem. You might also check to see if somewhere the _SCREEN.Visible property is getting set to .F. Those are the only two things I can think right off the top of my head that would do that.

Thanks much, Mike

Your first explanation was the right one. There was indeed an old config file (left over from a year ago when I was very very new to VFP, and doing a lot of blind and dumb experimenting-- Now my experimenting is still dumb but not so blind!) Anyway, purging the file, which was no longer in use, took care of the problem just fine.

My hat's off to you guys who are here to help help those of us coming up the ladder.
