I use a method similar to that given by Mr. Ken. I have a users table and this table tells which user can go to which area of the application. According to the settings in users table, menu items will be enabled or disabled. Suppose the GM can view financial reports, but cannot make any transactions, the transaction menu will be disabled and financial reports menu will be enabled when the GM logs into the application. Not only menu items can be controlled this way, but you can control objects also, say, on a data entry form. If a user has no right to delete a record, you can set the visible property of your delete button to .F. for that user so he will not see any delete button on the data entry form, while this is visible to other users who have right to delete a record.

(I have not applied any encryption to the users tabe).
