Mike, you are right. My statement was not clear enough. Indeed TSQL is very good handling large amounts of data, specially using temporary tables or table variables. What I meant was that TSQL is not particullary good at looping or scrolling on big data sets. For example, if you can acomplish a task handling data in chunks (for example, using INSERT SELECT) it will work really fast. But if you have to loop row by row on a large dataset using CURSOR-FETCH it will be a whole different story.

I don't have any metrics to support this, only my personal experience through the last few years.
