Yes, I have to take a look at it (CROSS APPLY).

For example, if you can acomplish a task handling data in chunks (for example, using INSERT SELECT) it will work really fast. But if you have to loop row by row on a large dataset using CURSOR-FETCH it will be a whole different story.
