Is the object in this column a textbox? Is the column's Sparse property set to .T.? If the answer to both of these is "Yes", then you can set the forecolor of the textbox and you will get the desired result. The reason is that like any control you drop into a grid's column, if the column's Sparse is .T. you will only see that control when it has focus. It's hard to tell that this is the case with a textbox because the column's display with no control looks very similar to a textbox. The only difference ususally is that you see the outline of the textbox within each cell when Sparse is .F.
