For :

thisform.grid1.column2.text1.(dont know what to use)=namevid

you could try

thisform.grid1.column2.text1.value=namevid

This will change the value only for the HIGHLIGHTED ROW and not the others. But as stated, this control is Databound so the data may have to be stored in a cursor.
