This thread proves my point that there is a waste of time involved in trying to decide on a case by case basic how to do a particular thing. When does one ever WANT a FILTERED cursor instead of a NOFILTER cursor? Very very rarely. There is no harm in always putting NOFILTER. Then it becomes a no-brainer, something one need never spend brain cycles on.

Then you are left with READWRITE as the only thing to concern yourself with. Furthermore, should one ever intend to get a filtered cursor - the lack of NOFILTER is really obvious. It should not have been added to the language as NOFILTER, but rather, one should have had to specify FILTERED as that would be an exception - and it would have rendered such a line self-documenting.
