I do not see any problem here.
Foxpro for DOS and VFP9 can open and manipulate data at the sametime with out any problem.
But if you ask me, once you upgraded your program to VFP9 or VFP8, there is no need to use your old Dos program. Unless you have a very old computer that cannot run window.
And always backup your data too, before upgrading your program to a higher version.
There is no such thing as too many backup.
