I am usually dead set against using deleted() in SQL. You have to understand, in SQL Server, there is no deleted function. A deleted record is GONE in SQL. However, for your information...

SELECT DELETED(),* FROM TABLE ORDER BY 1 INTO CURSOR TEMP

See, you can ONLY use deleted in this way with a single table. If you add an alias to the deleted() function, it will become trickier.
