I don't know about remote views. But you may consider to use CursorAdapter for this. It is more flewxible and you have more control over it. In CA there is FetchSize property that tells how many records at a time you want to get.
If somehwere in the application you want all records you always can do GO BOTTOM to force this.

I just checked in help
Make the remote view property NodataOnLoad in DE to .t.
In Init event of the form put:
SELECT MyRemoteView
CURSORSETPROP("FetchSize",100,"MyRemoteView") && 100 records at a time
somwhere where you want all records
SELECT MyRemoteView
GO BOTTOM && Just to be sure
