Hi David and Samir,

Yep, I think this is the Indonesian way of thinking (lol)

I do realize one can pick up here in Canada a pretty decent InkJet printer for around $149.00 US.

What kills us here are a few issues with the InkJets.
1. High yield cartridges cost us about $43.99 each and I need 4 of them.
So a set costs me approx. $200.00 including sales taxes. Printing yield is
around 1,000 to 1,200 pages for a new set of cartridges so the average cost per page
cost me approx. 18 to 20 cents each. I know this as one of my clients has an
HP 8000 Pro Inkjet printer and I was suppling them the InkJet cartridges.

2. With my last colour HP laser I get my laser cartriges for $98.00 each for the XL
cartridges and again I need 4 of them so in this case the cartridges cost me $442.96
including sales taxes.
However, with my last HP 3525 laser my actual yield on a set of full cartriges was around
11,000 to 11,200 pages. In this case my average cost per page was approx. 3.9 cents per page.
There is quite a difference between 20 cents per page on average and 4 cents per page
on average.

3. In my case due to the business cards I do and art work flyers and stuff I print off for clients,
I am printing on average approx. 1,000 to 1,500 pages in colour per month. So with the Inkjet scenario
I go through a set of cartriges every 3 weeks or 17 times per year. Thus Injet refills for
the XL ones were costing me in ink over $3,000 annually.
The one set of laser high yield cartriges last me almost one full year lets say at an average
cost of $500.00 per year for the ink.
Again quite a big difference in cost between $3,000.00 annually in ink with high-yield Inkjet and $500.00
per year using high-yield laser cartridges.

4. Most of all my clients have totally gone the laser way with 2 to 3 network laser printers. These are generally
high end units. Most of my clients are printing off over 20,000 pages per month so you can well see how
an Inkjet solution here will not fit. The other major factor in most of my service locations is speed. You
get out of 80 network users, 4 of them printing out 50-60 page colour PowerPoint presentations, well the
Inkjet simply does not have the speed to keep up even in a small network setting.

Some fuel for thought here ah guys ;-)
