When I try to do so, I get the dreaded error message and I cannot go further. The only options on the Error Message are "OK" and "Help". There is no option to open and edit the grid properties. Also, I have just found out the hard way that I cannot edit the error in the Class Browser at the CodeView program. Where do I go from here?

Sounds like you'll need to open the form as a table
ie. USE myForm.VCX

Then LOCATE FOR Class = "grid"
then look at the PROPERTIES field - it will have the offending code - you can delete the line.
