LOL. That's what MS did when they EOLed it. We're all supposed to be gone by now, not using it forever without paying another bean. ;-)

FWIW:

- MS makes heaps of $ by selling Windows.
- Backward compatibility is a given if you expect people to keep updating their OS to use their favorite apps. Otherwise they'll just keep the old OS without paying another bean.
- VFP compatibility isn't the main issue because VFP apps are just p-code. What matters is compatibility for the C/C++ runtimes in which VFP is written... along with hundreds of thousands of other business apps that people want to keep using.
- IMHO Vista *did* begin making it more difficult to deploy older apps as some are predicting. Win7 is making it easier again, especially with web apps on 64-bit IIS that used to be a pita that sometimes needed global setting changes, but now is very straight forward. We're about to release a web version with reg-free installation: you can literally copy it up to the web server and it will run without regsvr or DCOM or any of that malarkey.
