Like what the others already said, it is better to jump to version 9 instead. And my suggestion is do not try to convert as in "convert" your old DOS apps into the visual one. Use that as a basis but it is always better to create a "new" one instead. And since you already have the DOS one for basis, then you already have ideas of what needs to be done in terms of how your app needs to operate. So the only problem left is how to code those into the visual ones, which is a very good way to start the learning process.
