Well as per Micro$oft the product lifecycles are as below:

Mainstream Support Retired Extended Support Retired
VFP8 - 31-Mar 2008 31-Mar-2010
VB6 31-Mar-2005 31-Mar-2008

So if the choice is between VFP8 and VB6 then VFP wins hands down for this simple reason.

Of course there are others but why would you write software in an OLDER (vb6) language.

VFP or .NET whichever is easier and faster for you.
