Since, the XML Web Services in VFP uses these toolkit, does that mean it's no good to do applications using this feature in VFP? I'm new into XML Webservices of VFP and when I'm just researching on how to do it, I have came across with this issue.

Hi Rey

I too faced this problem. Also the SOAP toolkit cannot deal with Complex objects an well as Complex arrays that many new web services require. I have since created my web service in C# and am using VFP COM components as my business objects since I find that easy.

For instance certain XML that is output by my web service produces an array but when accessed from VFP SOAP only the first element gets returned.

Getting VFP COM and .NET to talk to each other is not hard but passing objects across is extremely tough. After much experimenting I have succeeded in doing this and getting the web service to work.

Problem is that VFP is not strongly typed and NET is. Also VFP can see net objects but not vice versa if not strongly typed using COMATTRIBUTE. Also the problem in .NET is that although it uses a runtime, you cannot code to dynamically create objects at runtime like you can in VFP.

If you do not need Complex objects and arrays to be passed from your web service I suggest you stick with VFP and SOAP as it is very easy. Otherwise you will have to create non standard protocols and will lose intellisense.

Bernard
